05.05.16, 10:00am Update:
On May 5, 2016, at approximately 06:00am the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office was notified by the US Coast Guard, Station Depoe Bay they had located and recovered a clothed female body from the ocean just outside the jaws of the Depoe Bay Harbor.
Lincoln County Major Crime Team members immediately responded where detectives were able to make a positive presumptive identification of the recovered body to be missing person, Katharine “Katy” Roe of Depoe Bay. Investigators reported the condition of Katy’s body is consistent with having been in the water since the time of her disappearance and there were no obvious indications of foul play; however, the State Medical Examiner’s Office is responsible for conducting the official autopsy.
Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office detectives notified Katy’s family early this morning. The Roe Family and the Sheriff’s Office wish to thank the local community for their support since Katy’s disappearance.
04.25.16, 3:45pm Update:
Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office received an investigative tip over the weekend of a piece of clothing that may belong to missing person, Katy Roe. After further investigation and consultation with the family it was confirmed the article of clothing does belong to Katy Roe and was in her possession the night of her disappearance. The piece of clothing was found by a citizen in the Depoe Bay area near the shoreline. The Lincoln County Major Crime Team continues to work through leads and information from the tip line and considers this an active investigation.
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office is committed to supporting the family of Katy Roe, supporting the members of the Lincoln County Major Crime Team (MCT) and keeping the community informed of pertinent and valid information.
Citizens are encouraged to continue to use the Sheriff’s Office Sheriff’s Tip Line (541) 265-0669 to report information that may assist detectives in the investigation; citizens are also encouraged to replace the local 911 Dispatch Center number on their social media postings with the tip line number.

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office is seeking information regarding missing 22 year old, Katy Roe, 4’9”, 90lbs, long brown hair. Katy was last seen leaving the Wing Wa restaurant in Depoe Bay around 2:00am, Sunday, April 17th, 2016, while walking home to her residence in the Southpoint area. If you saw Katy walking home early Sunday morning or have information about her whereabouts, call the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office Tip Line at 541-265-0669
As part of the continued investigation and search, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office activated the Lincoln County Major Crime Team (MCT). The MCT, Lincoln County’s interagency law enforcement team, is assisting with interviews, tip line calls and additional investigative needs. The Sheriff’s Office would like to validate two points about the on-going investigation:
•There has been no activity on Katy’s cell phone from the time of her disappearance.
•The clothing found in Depoe Bay on April 20th, 2016, do not belong to Katy.
Citizens are encouraged to continue to be vigilant and observant of any information that may lead to Katy's whereabouts or that may assist in the investigation efforts.
