CommitteesThe Public Works Department has four advisory committees:
It is the responsibility of these committees to advise the Board of Commissioners and the department in their respective areas. Lincoln County Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory CommitteePurpose of the committee: To promote, develop and preserve Lincoln County roadways necessary for safety and road user status of the bicyclist and pedestrian. Also to promote, develop, and perpetuate Lincoln County Transportation Policy and funding, which judiciously represents life and limb protection and the best interests of the bicycling and walking public. Areas of representation: The Committee serves to advise Lincoln County officials in bicycle and pedestrian transportation, and matters pertaining to existing and proposed road construction and signing. The Committee is a source of current information relating to the use of bicycle and walking as a means of transportation, and strives to support them as a viable means of transportation in Lincoln County. Members: Appointed by the Board of Commissioners and serve a term of three years. Members are comprised of individuals whose primary residence is in Lincoln County and who specify an interest in the stated goals of the Committee. Members shall recommend individuals for appointment when vacancies occur. Meetings: Held four times a year, and are located in the conference room at: Lincoln County Public Works - 880 NE 7th St. Newport, OR.
Lincoln County Road Advisory CommitteePurpose of the committee: To prioritize capitol improvement projects for the Road Fund. Areas of representation: Public Timber, Private Timber, and Industry. Members are comprised of individuals who reside in areas North, South, and Central Lincoln County. Members: The Lincoln County Board of Commissioners appoints the members, and they serve on the Advisory Committee for an indefinite term. Meetings: Held in the Lincoln County Public Works office, and are scheduled at least twice annually.
Lincoln County Vegetation Management Advisory BoardPurpose of the committee: To provide advice to the Lincoln County Board of Commissioners and the Lincoln County Weed Control District regarding vegetation management operations and practices. And to assist Lincoln County in information gathering, education, research and site monitoring to implement an integrated pest management system. Areas of representation: The Advisory Board shall strive to be broadly representative, including if possible, members from agricultural, forestry, watershed councils, private ownership, recreational users groups, ODF&W, Water Improvement Districts, and the OSU Extension Service Office. The Advisory Board shall represent as much as possible all geographical and political areas in Lincoln County. Members: Appointed by the Board of Commissioners and serve a term of three years. Meetings: Will be determined by the Advisory Board on a bi-monthly basis. Minimum of three per calendar year, one before March 1 and one after October 1. Meetings are held at the Lincoln County Road Department facility located at 410 NE Harney St. in Newport.
