Old River Road Update:
November 6, 2013

West Coast Construction has completed the repair of Old River Road.  The road is now open and drivers no longer need to detour around Judd Road and Gwee-Shut.  The failed section of Old River Road has been realigned away from the failing slope and the roadway secured with a solder pile wall tied back into existing bed rock.  The field work was started in July of this year and was substantially completed on time and slightly under budget.   The only remaining work left is the application of lane striping.  Unfavorable weather conditions prevented that final task from taking place.   However the contractor has placed temporary pavement markers to create the lanes needed to open this road to the public.  The lane striping will be completed when a good weather break emerges.

Cutting
and Removal of Downed Trees on County Road Right of Way:
You may cut trees which have fallen along County Roads ONLY if you are the adjacent property owner or have permission from the owner.
You may not fall standing trees without approval from the Road Department.
This applies only to County Roads not State Highways, Forest Service Roads, or on private lands.

Divisions administered by Public Works

Public Works is responsible for most of the physical assets of the County.

It is the philosophy of the department that preventative maintenance is cost effective and preferable to repair or reconstruction.
