UDAP - Spring 2007

Currently, Oregon 8th graders' use of alcohol is 80.5% higher than the national average!  Seventeen percent of alcohol sold in Oregon is consumed by underage drinkers.

The Underage Drinking Awareness Project (UDAP) is an innovative creation of Lincoln County, the Lincoln County School District, and the Northwest Film Center.

UDAP is based on a model originally developed by the Oregon Partnership (our statewide prevention coalition) and the Northwest Film Center as part of the Methamphetamine Awareness Project (MAP).

UDAP combines education with the art of film making.   The purpose of UDAP is to produce broadcast quality television public service announcements (PSA’s) and other short films that can be used to increase youth and public awareness about the dangers of underage drinking.

So far, sponsors of UDAP include:  Lincoln County Health & Human Services Department, the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office, County Counsel's Office, Lincoln County School District, South Lincoln Ambulance/Yachats Volunteer Fire Department, Pacific West Ambulance, and Congresswoman Darlene Hooley.

Stay tuned for more developments!
