TAP - Spring 2006

The Tsunami Awareness Project (TAP) is an innovative creation of Lincoln County, the Lincoln County School District, and the Northwest Film Center.  

         

TAP combines education with the art of film making.   The purpose of TAP was to produce tsunami PSA’s and other short tsunami documentaries that can be used to increase public awareness and safety all along the West Coast. 

The participating TAP schools were Newport High School, Newport Middle School, Taft Middle School, Toledo High School, Toledo Middle School, and Waldport High School.

The sponsors of the project included Pacific West Ambulance, the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office, Congresswoman Darlene Hooley, County Counsel's Office, and the Lincoln County School District.

The participating MAP teachers were Ollie Richardson (NHS), America Ford (Taft MS), Teresa Atwill (NMS and Taft MS), Bob Shindelman (Toledo MS), Peter Vince (THS), and Kathleen Ritzman and Nick Scharp (WHS).

The project coordinators were Rob Bovett from County Counsel’s Office and Ben Hensley and Peter Vince from the School District.  The filmmaker-in-residence (and claymation expert extraordinaire) was Liz Randall from the NW Film Center.
