NEWS RELEASE EARTHQUAKE August 18, 2004 An earthquake occurred Wednesday night off the Central Oregon Coast, registering 4.7 on the Richter Scale. The magnitude and location indicated a tsunami was not generated. The earthquake occurred at 11:06 p.m., 13 miles West of Newport.
