An earthquake occurred off the Central Oregon Coast,
registering 4.7 on the Richter Scale

The magnitude and location indicated a tsunami was not generated.
The earthquake occurred at 11:06 p.m., 13 miles West of Newport.
It was felt by many local residents.

An earthquake occurred off the Central Oregon Coast,
registering 3.0 on the Richter Scale

The magnitude and location indicated a tsunami was not generated.
The earthquake occurred at
12:45 p.m. 180 miles W of Coos Bay.

Two small earthquakes occurred off the Central Oregon Coast.
The magnitude and location indicated a tsunami was not generated.
The first was at 9:44 p.m., 190 miles WSW of Newport,
and the second was at 10:27 p.m., 210 miles WSW of Newport.

OLDER EARTHQUAKES

February 28, 2001

An earthquake occurred 35 miles southwest of Seattle, Washington
(10 miles Northeast of Olympia),
registering 6.8 on the Richter scale.
The earthquake occurred at 10:55 a.m.

The earthquake was too far inland to have generated tsunami concerns.
It was felt by many local residents.
