Doug Hunt was appointed to the Lincoln County Board of Commissioners in June 2012 and subsequently was elected to the Board in May 2014. 

Within the County, Doug’s primary areas of concentration are transportation, economic development, finance and budget, personnel, technology, and emergency management and resilience.  He directly oversees the Finance Department, the Personnel Department, the Information Technology department, and the Parole and Probation Department and is the liaison for the Sheriff’s Office and Emergency Management.

In his role as a County Commissioner Doug is proud to represent the county on the following:

Doug has resided in the unincorporated area of Toledo since 1988 and concluded a 39 year career in banking in May 2012.  Doug grew up in Portland, graduated from Jackson High School in 1968 and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Whitman College in 1972.  By relocating to Lincoln County Doug was able to realize a family goal and raise his family in a less congested rural environment.  Doug and his wife, Patsy, have 3 adult children, Matt, Shannon, and Courtney; all graduates of the Lincoln County School District. 

Doug’s banking career began in Portland where he assumed positions of increasing responsibility including assignments as a business development officer calling on executives of Fortune 500 companies and as a commercial lending officer handling a business loan portfolio of over $30 Million. With his relocation to Lincoln County, Doug worked for 3 different banks first as a branch manager, followed by responsibilities as an area manager overseeing 5 Lincoln county locations, and finally as a credit specialist facilitating small business lending at 9 locations along the Oregon coast. 

As a resident of Lincoln County, Doug began 9 years of service in 1994 on the Lincoln County School District Board where he served as Chair for 3 different years.  It was during his tenure on the school board that Doug realized the true value of public service as well as the tremendous personal satisfaction that came from such experience. Doug became a strong advocate for community involvement believing that the key to healthy communities is the participation of its citizens.

Outside of his role as a County Commissioner, Doug is presently Chair of CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of Lincoln and Tillamook Counties.   He also is involved in the Chamber of Commerce in Toledo, Waldport, and Lincoln City and in Newport where he serves as Treasurer and also in Rotary in Lincoln City, Toledo and Newport.  Over recent years Doug has served as President of the Yaquina Bay Economic Foundation, Greater Newport Chamber of Commerce, Rotary, and as a board member on the Lincoln City Chamber of Commerce, the Lincoln County Foundation, the Region Workforce Investment Board and the Regional Investment Board.

In his spare time, Doug goes for walks on the beach, escapes to camping, and tries to golf where he is still looking for his first hole-in-one.  Doug also enjoys running and jogging and has completed 6 marathons with a personal record of 4:55 in the Newport marathon.  Lincoln County continues to provide a rich environment in which to work, play and grow for Doug, Patsy and their family.
